FC Barcelona - soccer World Club Champion in Abu Dhabi

FC Barcelona won yesterday the soccer World Club Championship, held at the Zayed Sports City stadium in Abu Dhabi, after beating Argentina´s Estudiantes 2-1 in the extra time.

With the World Club Championship title, FC Barcelona has won the sixth trophy of 2009, after winning the Spanish soccer league, the Spanish cup, the Spanish super cup, the European super cup and the European champions? league.

FC Barcelona has entered history, as no other soccer club has won all possible six titles in the same year.

Estudiantes went ahead in the 37th. minute, with a FC Barcelona not playing their usual game during the first 45 minutes. In the second half things changed and the Spanish team played much better, having several chances to equal the match, but it was not until the 89th. minute when European soccer Champion´s forwarder Pedro Rodriguez  headed the equalizer against the South American champions. During the whole game Estudiantes tried to defend their advantage with a hope to win on penalties, while FC Barcelona tried to score another goal.

This year´s Golden Ball winner Lionel Messi scored with the chest in the 110th. minute to finally beat Estudiantes 2-1 and win the soccer Club World Cup, the European champion´s sixth trophy of 2009.

FC Barcelona reached the final after winning 3-1 against Mexico?s Atlante on Wednesday, scoring Busquets, Pedro and Messi for Barcelona.

Earlier, Asian champion Pohang Steelers of South Korea finished third after beating Mexico´s club de Futbol Atlante on penalties.
